This time Gravity has developed the same kinda thing I worked on before with the ride on mechas for mounts but it's of more of skill/function for the Mechanics to use and make, they're actually arranging IF the class should allow development Mechas for all player classes. But as it stands only Mechanics and control these beastly beasts. The Heads can be changeable here and there for diffrent looks to match your likings (however that function might take along time to actually complete so there's only 1-2 default for now). The base head works as a Skull for the endoskeleton, while I'll explain in abit later, it can be upgraded.

The system works pretty easily considering it's only changing your class sprite and head sprite, and then adding the list of mech skills...you'll be locked from using a lot of normal summoning skills etc. so be caution these are pretty much melee type fighting machines so far, but they'll have options to equip new head PARTS like you do with head gears...weapons and junk will also increase your type of skills and battle mode.
How Does a Mechanic Build and Ride a Mech?:

They weren't kidding when they said "similar to the 'Magitech Armor'"
PH0ENIX
Hmm, this makes some really neat new things seen to the game. The idea sounds pretty good. When it's made, i'd personally make it much harder to get then gravity makes it. So . Yeah. I like the ideas of these new jobs, they sound wicked. A whole new style to RO fighting techniques is exactly what the servers need in my opinion tongue.gif

It's temporary... I hope... If they really use the old GM sprite for the Mechas, I'm so never going to use that class... ever. But they've already said it's temp, so we can only wonder on how the final Mecha will look like (Yes, I've seen that pic about it that's been going around for ages, I actually like it smile.gif)
Rytech
The mech sprite currently being used is a temp sprite that will be used until the real ones are complete. So dont get upset just yet. I did post in the last update that a temp sprite would be used. Once they are, they will replace these. I allready made a copy of these sprites since ill be using them in the future for the 3CeAM project as a GM mount that will show if a GM mounts on anything.

Oh the intense hate of what I'm seeing here. What's gonna happen when this becomes the only way to play RO because people won't run servers that have an end-point at the last pre-renewal changes. I know it won't happen for a long time.. but people that make their own pservers these days are just hellbent on adding half-assed jobs already. @_@

Ok, fine, I won't deny that they putting a great deal of effort and overhaul work into something just because they feel they need to. I just know the possible product does not look promising for a game I like.
G-On
I agree that Ragnarok is losing its charm over time, too many maps, too many forced implented classes. In my opinion , ro was at its best before the advanced classes, ninjas, teakwons, etc.
Nice and simple happy.gif
And can you ppl stop posting screenshots in this topic of mechanics/old gm sprite >_> , the interwebs is loaded with them already.

Tenebrea: What's gonna happen when this becomes the only way to play RO because people won't run servers that have an end-point at the last pre-renewal changes.

I would , but unfortunately the ammount of people interested in such servers is verry limited, the only way to get a decent playercount these days is to go either verry customized ( thus explaining the Project im running ) or wait for atleast a year and hope the ro community hasnt died out by then.
I tried running a oldschool server a little while ago, but with little succes.

Thats because all of you are already getting bored of the game.
It "used" to be nicer, because back in the day you didnt know, as much as you know now, about the game.

RO is by far the most entertaining game i have played on the world of mmos. I just dont stick with any server because...Simply, they all suck. Few servers have decent rates (lower than 5x) but they ruin adding other custom npcs i dislike, or rather, the admins sucks too damn hard at everything besides giving items to their own characters, and when i make my own without the crappy npcs, people wont join because they are spoiled by jobchanger+teleporter+healer combos.
G-On
That, is Exactly what happend at the server i used to run a few weeks ago, i tried preserving the good of Ragnarok , and refrained from using bare crappy custom items, basicly what you described in your post, but the highest playercount i got was...7?

And i agree, whatever MMO i try to play and like, i always end up back at ro ^^
Even with the new content its still the best MMO out there in my opinion.

It's just like Brainstorm said. Why many of us remembering "old times RO"? Because backthen devs didn't throw us in bunch of mobs with a just unbelievable damage. Because RO was a smoother game than now - without AD, Fiberlock, Earthquake...
We had A VERY NICE and REALLY FUN game. We didn't need miniboss cards or even mvp cards or millisecond voice coordination for getting fun on mvp's or WoE. Just like Doddler said not so long ago:

"Again it comes as no real surprise then that when Gravity finally decided that they wanted to stop dallying with stupid things like the World Project and crappy little towns and focus on making challenging content for high end players, the method that they chose to do it was to make monsters impossibly strong. It wasn’t enough that a monster could hit you for 1000 damage a hit. No, they would make a skill that causes monsters to triple in damage. They couldn’t just make a skill that makes a monster evade some of your attacks, they had to make a skill that made monsters impossible to hit. While they make impossibly hard monsters, they expect players to utilize their extreme equipment and abilities given to them. I think though that in their desire to make things challenging, I can’t help but feel that they’ve overlooked some important aspects, such as reward for being challenged."

So many of us just getting bored to go to new servers and start all over again with no guarantees of stupid admin politics or bugs or even developers decisions to make game "better", just to get that piece of fun we didn't get on previous server.
I'm very sorry for this long rant on current RO or FPT servers.

@Topic
I'm really glad Gravity start making things in renewal by adding new content directly after development. We've got a GCross, AB, Warlock, Ranger, RK and Mechanic already, 3-2 classes are on their way for 25th March so very soon we'll have all new classes implemented and devs will take their time to get game ballanced. In the end(We all hope that devs know what are they doing) we'll get a game, with different mechanics, new monsters, interesting mvp fights\WoEs. Same candy with different filling? I think it's better way than get new mvp with 32-64k melee damage and oneshot-damage new mobs. All complaings about classes (Oh, warloks with casttime just suck, AB don't have battle build and just got mass version of old skills, GCrosses can't oneshot everybody anymore , RKs must hunt regs for runes and casttime of skills make them suck, Rangers can't spam DS and have useless traps etc.) is just like complaining about non-assembled car not moving as it normal or a stool without one leg constantly falling. Give them some time guys, and we'll get our piece of fun.

P.S. After playing RO for about 4 years I get a words in my head for all players: "All of us will be back". Even if you quit playing, you will return later for sure. May be for a minute, may be for an hour, day, month.. but you will return to this great MMO.
My big thanks for guys who read this post).
NikTsuki
We here have.. Source coders, DB editors, scripters, sprite makers, map makers, php coders..

I've known about all this for a while, Thats why i dont even play RO anymore, i'm just using the svn to keep myself busy. Tho, we could probably round these people and make a new game with RO's engine xD
Wild idea but damn.. RO is too old and as far as i know, everyone knows every little corner of the damn game... Starting over with a brand new game is probably the answer xD

All my friends left RO a while after i did, in a 10x10x10x i could make a transcend in 15h- ... Thats how bad its gotten.. A few friends of mine came back to test the new classes on my sandbox server, but they soon lost interest because its the only new thing about it..
Tenebrae
I just don't want to lose the ability or means to be able to play a non-renewal RO.

Sure I'll try out the complete product of renewed RO, I simply don't see myself wanting to be limited to that.
G-On
Perhaps we could continue this discussion in another topic? Im interested to see other peoples opinion of the future/status of ro smile.gif

This is exactly how I am. RO is probably the best MMO I have ever played. Now WoW, not the rest of those half-assed Korean cash shops, but RO. It has a strange, beguiling charm that I cannot seem to stray away from. Even if I quit for a year, I come back the next year pumped to play. I think it's because RO is always changing as well. Though I want to say this Renewal isn't the best of a change. If I wanted to play WoW, I'd play WoW.
Yet, I remember back in the day, right when Niflheim just got released, we didn't have these bullshit MVPs with Earthquake, and even then, Lord of Death was still the top guy. I liked duoing Bapho with a sader and me, MEing the shit out of it. Now you can't even touch the fucker without having an armload of allies at your side. Making MVPs harder /= giving them bullshit OHKO skills.
Like Tenebrae said, I will try Renewal, but I do not believe that I will like it. If only I could get a char on the kRO renewal server...

It seems that with some of these "Super-MVPs" will wipe out a whole party one by one no matter how large the party is, simply because no one can even take the hits and be maintained by the priests.

How much effort is being put into RO 2? Last thing I heard was that they have a separate team working on that from the one that keeps updating RO. The way things are looking right now, I'd like to see RO2 developed to try out now as an alternative to RO1 renewed. But that just seems to be an idealist's dream at this point.

About private servers and their need to have those spoiling NPCs to get people to play them, I can only understand them wanting job changers because the job advancement quests are old and even I am tired from all the times I've done them. Warpers.. no one should have a problem paying little zeny for the official warping options, or alternatively, actually having to travel through fields no one cares about because they never need them.

And healers.. come on, it's already an RPG with AFFORDABLE INNS. >_o People think that spending 500z on anything basic is extreme and undesirable.. what the hell?

Ok this is one of the things I am WTF. Back in the day we didn't HAVE healers, OR inns. We sat in Pront and regenerated our HP/SP before we went out and annihilated stuff, it wasn't that hard with Magnificat.

When I initially told my friends that I had thought a healer would be good at 50z per 10 levels, they went NUTS. So I made it 'free' just to appease them, but I am going to change it back to the.. what, 300z it is to stay at an inn, because I don't like the idea of a free heal. '_'

Where is the white flag from head-pile with "OWNED" letters? o_O

P.S. I think mechanic is located fully in robot's head-pile.
